Frank P. Nemeth

 

Frank Nemeth was born in a working class neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. A 1983 graduate Canisius High School, he went onto to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Canisius College.

In 1990, he moved to Albany to accept a position as a public information officer with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.  One year later, Governor Mario M. Cuomo hired him to work in his Scheduling Office. Over the next four years, he held positions as Special Assistant to the Governor and
Deputy Director of Scheduling to the Governor. During that time, he traveled with the governor when he campaigned for Presidential Candidate William J. Clinton. He was promoted to Deputy Director of Scheduling in 1993, where he worked with the Governor’s communications and program staff to develop overall messages, themes and strategies regarding policy and state government.

From 1995 until 1998, he worked with both Albany County and the New York State Senate Democratic Conference. While in the State Senate, he worked in the Minority Information Services unit. Charged with overseeing the Long Island region, he worked with local officials and interested parties on coordinating message delivery.

In 1998, Frank joined the administration of Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings as Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Youth and Recreation Services. Eventually, he was transferred to the Albany Community Development Agency as Deputy Director, where he was charged with creating the Albany HomeStore, a one stop shopping place for home ownership in the City of Albany. While there, he worked with the mayor to create ADAP (Albany Down Payment Assistance Program), a pool of money that was used to promote ownership by offering low interest, no interest down payment assistance.

In 2001, he joined the staff of newly-appointed New York State Assembly Majority Leader Paul A. Tokasz. During this time, he served as a liaison to the labor community and to many individuals in the transportation industry, assisted the Leader in interfacing with the other house members and their staffs, and served as a liaison to local and statewide elected officials. He traveled frequently to the Leader’s district to work with local officials and public interest groups on a variety of issues.

In 2004, Frank was asked to serve as the New York State Democratic Party’s Political Director. He helped elect numerous local officials in 2005, including the mayors of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany. He was also instrumental in coordinating the state party’s support of campaigns for all statewide offices in 2006, including the re-election of the state’s junior US Senator. Additionally, he was a major coordinator and planner for the 2006 New York State Democratic Committee’s State Convention. His efforts led to Democrats holding all statewide seats and picking up three congressional seats, which helped the National Democratic Party regain control of the US House of Representatives.

In 2007, Frank joined the firm of Hill & Gosdeck. He was named Partner in 2016.

Frank is married to Nancy L. Nemeth, a native of Rockville Centre, New York. They reside in Guilderland together with their two children.
